Ludhiana, November 16, 2013: On his maiden visit to Ludhiana  AMSG Ashokan, President of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) appreciated the activities of Offset Printers Association (OPA). AIFMP is the apex body of 2,50,000 printers of India.
Ashokan was in the town to release the sticker ‘Proud to be a Printer’ produced by the Offset Printers Association for the first time in India. Releasing the sticker he said, Printing is the biggest invention of mankind till date. Printing had a solid past and definitely a bright future. Nobody can live without printing, you cannot think of a day without touching a printer. In every city or town of our country there is a printing press, but even then people are ignorant about this master craft. Every morning the Newspaper is at your breakfast table, can you realise the zeal of the industry behind it? He applauded the OPA for this noble cause of educating the society about the place of printing in day to day life. We should be proud that we are the printers, who decide the future of mankind.
Ashokan was accompanied by C D Kumaravel, Hony, General Secretary, Prakash R. Joshi, Vice President (West) and Arvind B. Mardikar, Joint Secretary of the AIFMP to attend the executive body meeting of the Offset Printers Association. Kumaravel said, after visiting Ludhiana I am confident now that some attention will be given to this key industry by the Government. Earlier, Kamal Chopra elaborated the activities and projects of OPA, he said OPA is the one and only association in India to introduce the projects like ‘Print Yatra’ and Print Chetna to spread awareness about printing. He said there are number of un-employed youth but at the same time there is a dearth of skilled and semi skilled work force in the industry OPA is trying to fill that gap with the help of these projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Kushl Kumar Jain, Vice President, OPA said these stickers will be distributed free of cost to each and every printers’ association of India printed with the logo of that association. It is the need of the hour that we must understand the importance of this trade. In the days when human organs, buildings, even food is being printed, don’t you think printing has entered every walk and field of society, he said.
Felicitating the President AIFMP and his team on their maiden visit to Ludhiana, Sanjay Gandhi, Vice President OPA said, it is a matter of pride for OPA that today we have with us the stalwarts of the Indian printing industry.
