Protesting power failure, Congress workers burn Badals’ effigy

Ludhiana, August 1: Hundreds of Congress workers today staged a massive protest demonstration against the long and frequent power cuts across the state particularly in the Ludhiana city which has badly hit the common man and the industry alike.

They also burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Cheema Chowk falling under Ward Number 17.

Addressing the demonstrators the District Congress Committee Ludhiana (Urban) president Pawan Dewan asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal as what happened to their promises of providing round the clock electricity.

Dewan said, every section of the society was disillusioned with the government and the power crisis had proved to be the last nail in the Akali-BJP government’s coffin. He said, the industries have been subjected to seven day power cuts leading to losses to them besides large scale unemployment.

Among others present on the occasion included MLA Surinder Dawar, Ex councillor Pritpal Singh Ghail, Navneesh Malhotra, Gursimran Singh Mand, Shammi Malhotra, Suba Singh & others.
