FIEO, in association with the Exim Bank, organized an interactive seminar on “Promoting Exports from Uttarakhand”, on August 26, 2022, in Dehradun. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami was the Chief Guest for the event. Addressing the participants during his keynote address, CM highlighted that Uttarakhand’s economic performance has exhibited strong resilience even while the global economy continued to face multiple headwinds. He underlined that the State’s strong export infrastructure, conducive business environment and strong export ecosystem have positioned the State as one of the top achievers among Himalayan States in the Niti Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2021. He also emphasized that the Government of Uttarakhand remains committed to strengthen the business environment in the state, and support exporters in their internationalization endeavours.
 
The Seminar also saw enthusiastic participation by policy makers and senior government officials including Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary, Department of Industrial Development, AYUSH & MSME, Govt of Uttarakhand and Shri Sudhir Nautiyal, Director - Industries, Govt of Uttarakhand, who highlighted the industrial landscape of Uttarakhand. In the sessions that followed, interactive presentations were made on the existing policy support and available financing solutions for exporters by representatives from India Exim Bank, ECGC, DGFT, FIEO and District Industries Centre, Govt of Uttarakhand.
 
In his opening remarks, Mr Ashwani Kumar, Regional Chairman (NR), FIEO, highlighted that Uttarakhand is rich in natural resources and has huge export potential. Mr Kumar underlined that Uttarakhand has witnessed rapid growth in its industry sector and was amongst the top-ranking states in the Government of India’s Ease of Doing Business Index 2019-20, owing to the proactive policy interventions by the State and Central Government.
 
In her welcome address, Ms Harsha Bangari, Managing Director, India Exim Bank, highlighted that exports from Uttarakhand have registered remarkable growth over the recent years, on the back of the strong ecosystem for exports. Ms Bangari also emphasized that Uttarakhand has a lot of scope for enhancing the exports further. Ms Bangari urged the business community and exporters from the State to capitalize on the emerging global trade dynamics like the China+1 strategy and also make use of the incentives and policy support available for exporters, to tap the latent potential for exports from the State.
 
Mr Manish Sharma Regional Head (NR) proposed the vote of thanks, wherein he mentioned, exports play a crucial role in the economy of a country as they not only fetch valuable foreign exchange but also, at the same time, display the high capabilities that our people are endowed with to outside world. The prevailing scenario makes it pertinent for all of us to explore new markets and diversify our product range. He further added, FIEO like a true friend of the exporting community, stands with all to ensure smooth and hassle-free functioning of their business activities. A number of programmes are being conducted by us to address the specific issues and difficulties being faced by the exporting community.
