Project on energy conservation in forging sector

Ludhiana, September 1, 2021: “Energy Mapping study for Forging MSME Sector”, an initiative from Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), aims to identify the present scenario of the forging sector in terms of energy consumption, as well as readiness of the sector in adopting energy efficient solutions.

Under this study, several initiatives were carried out for the Ludhiana-Jalandhar forging cluster which directly and indirectly benefitted the industry stakeholders. Detailed Energy Audit were carried out in 10 forging units in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Phagwara.
 
Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Ludhiana being a prominent institution working for the advancement of the MSME fraternity in the Punjab organized a dissemination workshop for the Forging sector units in Ludhiana and Jalandhar to share the findings of the energy audits, cluster specific EE technologies & best practices and learnings acquired during the study and to generate a sector and cluster level Energy Efficiency roadmap for the Forging fraternity.

The meeting was conducted jointly by CICU, Price Water Cooper (PWC), Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (B.E.E). Sushil Kumar Malhotra, Board Member and Paramjit Singh, Manager, PEDA briefed about Energy Efficiency initiatives being taken by PEDA. Rakesh Kumar Kansal, GM, DIC and Wazir Singh, Assistant Director, MSME-DI, Ludhiana highlighted the importance of Energy Efficiency measures. J.P Nair from PWC briefed about finding of the studies to more than 50 participants from forging industries.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU thanked all the Govt. Departments for their participation in events and asked all participants to implement the learning of Energy Efficiency measures in their units.
