Professor Jayanti Dutta Selected as Rukhmabai Initiatives Grantee to Promote Women in STEM

Chandigarh, July 31, 2025: Professor Jayanti Dutta from the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre has been selected as one of the three national grantees under the Rukhmabai Initiatives for 2025.

As part of this honor, Prof. Dutta will receive a writing grant to publish commissioned profiles and features that align with the Initiative’s mission of improving the representation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields.

The Rukhmabai Initiatives, launched in 2020, are dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. Rukhmabai, one of India’s first practicing female doctors and a pioneering feminist figure of the British era. These initiatives aim to recognise systemic barriers faced by women in science and to create pathways for greater inclusion, representation, and retention of women and marginalized genders in STEM careers.
