Rohtak, April 25, 2025: The closing ceremony of the Constitution Day Celebrations at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) was marked by a compelling special lecture delivered by Prof. Markandey Ahuja, former Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University. Prof. Ahuja addressed the audience on the theme of Women Empowerment, offering thought-provoking insights on the subject.
In his wide-ranging address, Prof. Ahuja touched upon numerous dimensions of women empowerment, including equal opportunities, women protection laws, gender sensitization, parental upbringing, and the need for attitudinal change in society. Emphasizing that the true spirit of the Constitution lies in equality and dignity for all, he urged institutions and families alike to champion the cause of women’s rights.
Interweaving mythological references with modern role models, Prof. Ahuja underscored the pivotal contributions of women throughout Indian history and civilization. He narrated inspiring stories of extraordinary women—from the valor of Rani Laxmi Bai to the resilience of Mary Kom, the determination of Sunita Williams, and the intellect of Sarojini Naidu—to instill a sense of pride and purpose among the students.
Addressing the young women in the audience, he said, “Do not let societal expectations dictate your potential. Introspect, follow your instincts, chase your ambitions, and remember—you are not asking for power; you already have it. It’s time to claim it with confidence and courage.” He also called upon male family members to actively support the empowerment of women at home, at work, and in public spaces, stating that “empowerment cannot be one-sided; it must be a collective commitment rooted in empathy and equity.”
Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik In her closing note, emphasized the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of constitutional awareness and gender sensitivity on campus.
The week-long Constitution Day Celebrations at DLC SUPVA included a variety of academic and cultural engagements—poster-making competitions, rallies, quizzes, and lectures—aimed at nurturing democratic values, civic sense, and progressive thinking among the youth. Winner students were given awards.
