Prof. Dr. Yadwinder Singh Brar Bids Farewell to IKGPTU After Distinguished Career

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, September 1, 2026: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organized a heartfelt farewell ceremony to honor Prof. Dr. Yadwinder Singh Brar, Dean Academics, on his retirement after an illustrious career spanning 34 years and 11 months in teaching and research.
The ceremony was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arvind Kumar Bansal, who joined as mentor, while Prof. Dr. Brar himself was the Chief Guest. His wife, Sandeep Kaur Brar, was the special guest of the occasion.
Prof. Brar and his wife were accorded a floral welcome by Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal, Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Dean R&D Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Walia, and other senior officials.
The program began with a welcome address by Registrar Dr. Sandhu, followed by a citation reading by Dr. Akhil Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering. Prof. Brar’s distinguished service included roles as Dean (Academics), Head of Electrical Engineering, Head Guru Nanak Dev Chair, Dean of Faculty, Dean (P&EP), Dean (SW), Dean (R&D), Dean (Alumni), Director of Main Campus, Batala Campus, and Hoshiarpur Campus. He also served as Officiating Vice Chancellor near his retirement days, further exemplifying his leadership and commitment to the University.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal, in his address, praised Prof. Brar’s dedication and leadership in shaping academic excellence at IKGPTU. Words of appreciation were shared by Dean R&D Dr. Parveen Bansal and Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi. Personal memories were recalled by Dr. Sandeep Kajal (Deputy Controller IQAC), Dr. Pawan Garg (Deputy Registrar Academics), and Dr. Vivek Talwar (Assistant Registrar R&D).
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Nitya Sharma, Deputy Registrar HRM, while the ceremony was moderated by Rajneesh K. Sharma, Deputy Registrar Public Relations.
The event concluded with honors presented to Prof. Brar and his wife by the University, Officers Association, Employees Association, Academic Departments, and colleagues, marking a memorable farewell to a stalwart of the institution.
