Prof. Bhoop selected for the most coveted “IPA Eminent Pharmacist Award 2025”

Hon. Visiting Professor at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University (PU), Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop has been unanimously selected by the apex national professional body, the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), for its highest honour — the “IPA Eminent Pharmacist Award” for the year 2025.

Chandigarh, 18 November 2025: Hon. Visiting Professor at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University (PU), Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop has been unanimously selected by the apex national professional body, the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), for its highest honour — the “IPA Eminent Pharmacist Award” for the year 2025. The National IPA Award Selection Committee conferred this distinctive award in recognition of his “noteworthy contribution across the globe to the profession of pharmacy” as an academician and researcher. The formal communique, received through a telephonic intimation followed by an email from the National General Secretary of IPA, states that the Award will be presented during the Inaugural Ceremony of the 74th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC, the biggest national conclave of pharmaceutical professionals across the country) to be held on 19 December 2025 at Bangalore, Karnataka.The Award shall include an Award Citation, a Memento, a Shawl and theChequeofa token amount.

Professor Bhoop has been Chairman of the UIPS (2014-17); Dean, Faculty of Pharm. Sciences (2012-14); Dean, Alumni Relations (2007-11), and Fellow & Member - University Senate & Syndicate (2012-16). He has also served as Founder-Coordinator of prestigiousNational UGC Centre for Excellence in Nano Biomedical Applications (2011-2019), and Coordinator, UGC Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Pharm. Sciences (2011-18).

Internationally acclaimed for his pioneering work in Quality by Design (QbD)-enabled nanomedicine development,Prof. Bhoop has over 450 publications,including 16 books, 10 patents (4 granted) and successful technology transfers of three nanotech-based drug delivery products to the pharmaceutical industry.A widely travelled scientist, he has delivered nearly 400 invited lectures and onsite hands-on workshops across India and abroad, and duly trained thousands of industrial scientists through his specialized QbD-enabled formulation and analytical development programmes. He has supervised over 110 researchers, including 35 Ph.D. scholars and 10 post-doctoral fellows, and has secured research funding exceeding Rs. 7.30 crore from government and industry.His scientific impact is reflected in his consistent inclusion, from 2019 to 2025, in Stanford University’s Global Top 2% Scientists List, both for career-long and single-year performance.

Prof. Bhoop’s exemplary body of work has earned him numerous national and international distinctions, including the QbD Product Performance Awards (2012 & 2013, AAPS, USA); Pharma QbD Outstanding Performance Award 2014 (Stat-Ease, USA); BharatiVidyapeeth APTI Pharmacy Teacher Award 2014; Scientist Par Excellence Award 2015 (Minitab, UK); Eudragit Award 2015 (Germany); Prof. D.V.S. Jain Best Scientist Award 2018; Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 (Punjab Academy of Sciences); Global Pharma QbD Excellence Award 2019 (Shengie, China); Acharya P. C. In recognition of his distinguished academic contributions, Hamid Ansari, the then Vice President of India, nominated him to the Panjab University Senate in 2011. He was conferred the Honorary Fellowship of the Punjab Academy of Sciences in 2017 by Prof. Ved Prakash, the then Chairman of UGC, and later the Honorary Fellowship of IPA in 2018. Prof. Bhoop is currently serving as the President of the IPA Punjab State Branch (2024–26).
