Kapurthala/Jalandhar, August 28, 2026: Prof. Arvind K. Bansal formally joined as the 21st Vice Chancellor of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) on August 25, at the University’s Mohali Campus. Soon after assuming charge, Prof. Bansal visited the University’s main campus on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala highway for the first time on Friday.

In a meeting with Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, the Vice Chancellor reviewed the priority assignments of different departments and discussed strategies to strengthen the University’s academic and research ecosystem. Prof. Bansal highlighted his vision to further enhance collaborations, improve student-centric initiatives, and promote excellence in technical education. He highlighted his academic vision of positioning IKGPTU as a hub of excellence in technical education, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary learning and global standards.

During his visit, Prof. Bansal interacted with senior officials of the University and sought detailed information about the functioning of various departments. He emphasized the importance of efficiency, transparency, and innovation in academic and administrative processes.

He underlined the need to expand research collaborations with premier institutions and industry partners, aiming to foster innovation and knowledge transfer. Prof. Bansal also stressed the importance of student initiatives, encouraging programs that enhance skill development, entrepreneurship, and holistic growth.

The University Faculty, Officers, Staff community welcomed Prof. Bansal’s proactive engagement and expressed confidence that his leadership will bring new energy and direction to IKGPTU, strengthening its role as a leader in higher education.
