President should remove Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the Cabinet: Mehta

Senior leader and former councillor Parminder Mehta, alleging a wide gap between the BJP's words and actions, said that while the party claims to follow the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (Together with All, Development for All), in reality it is pursuing only its own political interests rather than the welfare of the people.

Ludhiana, July 17, 2026: Senior leader and former councillor Parminder Mehta, alleging a wide gap between the BJP's words and actions, said that while the party claims to follow the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (Together with All, Development for All), in reality it is pursuing only its own political interests rather than the welfare of the people.

Mehta made these remarks while criticising the Central Government for remaining silent over the ongoing protest by social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.

Expressing concern, Mehta said that despite Wangchuk's hunger strike entering its 20th day and his body weight reportedly dropping by nearly 10 kilograms, the Central Government has failed to take cognizance of the matter.

Mehta further alleged that repeated incidents of NEET paper leaks, which have reportedly driven some students to the point of suicide, are clear evidence of the failure of both the Central Government and the Education Minister to ensure a fair examination system. He claimed that the Prime Minister's silence on the issue has triggered widespread anger among students across the country.

He said that Wangchuk is observing the hunger strike to press for the students' demands and to awaken the Prime Minister to safeguard their future.

Mehta appealed to the President of India to take appropriate steps to relieve the Education Minister of his responsibilities at the earliest so that Wangchuk may be persuaded to end his hunger strike.
