Ludhiana, March 29, 2014: The Ludhiana Electroplaters Association president Joginder Kumar has said they have come to know through a news item appearing in various dailies that there is a clash in between LETS and the operator of CETP, regarding lifting of effluent beyond 2.5 lakhs liters per day.
In a statement here today, he added the issue was discussed threadbare in the meeting of Board of Directors of the association on March 28.
He added, “It is presumed that the current situation has arisen due to lack of coordination within LETS and with the operator, which is against the interests of electroplating industry at large”.
Kumar said it was resolved in the meeting that since the electroplaters association is the only stake holder of the electroplating industry since 1966, the CETP for electroplating industry at Phase VIII should be handed over to the Ludhiana Electroplating Association or LETS should be free from government interference.
He said the association has always been demanding that a separate focal point or a cluster should be formed and the total electroplating process in the industry should be shifted or made/mandatory, at a common place with cessions/subsidy available, so that the desired results could be achieved.
Further, he said the association also demanded that the capacity of CETP be increased in the meanwhile, in view of the demand of the industry so that the industry may not suffer.
