Potholes Begin Appearing on Newly Constructed Elevated Road, Questions Raised Over Construction Quality: Mehta

Ludhiana, September 13, 2026: Questions are being raised over the condition of the recently constructed road on the route from Jagraon Bridge towards the bypass. The newly laid road has begun to deteriorate at several places, while dangerous potholes have also appeared at some locations. Following rain, these potholes fill with water, causing inconvenience to motorists and increasing the risk of accidents.
Senior leader and former councillor Parminder Mehta raised questions over the quality of the road construction and demanded that the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Mayor order an inquiry into the matter.
According to Mehta, the road was completed after a long wait, but its deterioration soon after construction has raised questions over the quality of the work. He said that zig-zag patterns and other major defects are already visible at several places on the road.
He demanded that the concerned authorities inspect the site, examine the materials used and the quality of construction, and fix responsibility if any deficiencies are found.
