Portraits depicting significance of International Women’s Day launched by DC Ludhiana

Ludhiana: Today on the eve of International Women Day, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma launched special portraits prepared by Advocate Harpreet Sandhu, Vice President Sewa Sankalp Society, depicting the pivotal role of Women in society.

During a special event organized to mark International Women Day Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana honoured the prominent City based Women Doctors namely Dr Vanie Thapar, Dr Vidhu Modgil, Dr Gursaran Sidhu, Dr Navpreet Aulakh and Mrs. Guddy Dhindsa a leading Floriculturist for their sincere services rendered towards society.

During the event Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana said that International Women Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable contribution of women in different spheres of life as they have really proved that they are capable of achieving anything, if opportunity is given to them without any gender bias. He further stated that today we witness women as top echelons, they equally participate as men in serving the country and in different fields like education, health, politics, space exploration, defense, banking sector, media, judiciary, executives etc and even as Nation heads.

Vice President Sewa Sankalp Society, Harpreet Sandhu that on this day we must value the pivotal role played by women within the society, as women through their grit and determination have made strides in every sphere of life and we all must promote the cause of social equality and follow a determined slogan, “Empower women for growth and development of our nation”.
