A political conference of Delhi trade under the umbrella  of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) being held on Wednesday at New Delhi.

New Delhi, January 29, 2014: In a political conference of Delhi trade held today at New Delhi under the umbrella  of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the trade leaders strongly criticised the political spectrum of the Country and blamed all political parties for the suffering and miseries being faced by the trading community.

In a unanimous resolution passed at the  conference, the traders warned all political parties to desist from ignoring the trading community and said that if issues of the traders are not given due cognizance, the traders across the Country will consolidate themselves and shall vote according to their own dictate. In pursuance of its object, the CAIT is organising a Traders National Summit on February 27-28 at New Delhi which will be inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The conference was chaired by CAIT National Chairman, Mahendra Shah.

CAIT National President B. C. Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal today informed that the CAIT has also invited Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders of BJP, Congress, CPM, CPI, JD (U), SP, BSP, TMC, AIADMK, DMK, TDP, RJD, Shiv Sena, Akali Dal etc. The CAIT will present the political leaders a “Traders Charter” and will seek their explicit stand on its charter.

Both Bhartia and Khandelwal said that the political spectrum of the Country has so far grossly neglected the trading community and has taken a comfortable ride on us but now it is high time and the traders across the Country have decided to bring end to this system. The trade leaders deeply regretted that more than 6 crore traders of the Country conducting business activities in unorganised sector feels cheated by the political fraternity since in spite of generating an annual turnover of more than 20 lakh crores of rupees and making a magnificent contribution of about 15percent to national GDP, the trading community has never find itself on priority of neither any Government nor on any political fraternity. The Lok Sabha polls are an opportunity for us to underline our importance in Indian economy and we are gearing ourselves for the cause.

CAIT Delhi State President, Ramesh Khanna & General Secretary Vijay Pal  said that multiple taxation system, archaic laws, Acts and Rules, harassment and victimization at the hands of bureaucracy, absence of any national or state level trade policy for traders, absence of any viable financial mechanism to provide financial assistance to traders, government policies to crush small traders have become the order of the day and unfortunately those in power are least bothered about this sorry state of affairs and have always taken the trading community in a light manner. FDI in Retail, FDI in Retail in E Commerce, Free Trade Agreement with European Countries and other nations, upgradation and modernisation of existing retail trade are some of the major issues of concern of the traders.

The trade leaders said that traders across the Country have decided to oppose such rule with tooth and nail and if need arises, they will not hesitate to launch a nationwide campaign during Lok sabha polls. The New Delhi Convention is destined to set the agenda for the future and traders are consolidating themselves to convert into a vote bank now since vote bank politics has taken the centre stage. //india news, national news, new delhi news, world news, india business news, india trade news,
