Author.

With the announcement of election dates by Election Commission of India and starting of election process and releasing of list of their candidates by the political parties and now with the announcement of candidates by Congress in the next two to three days by B.J.P., Punjab Lok Congress, SAD (Sanyukt) the political players have geared up for the participation in the political battle ground to show their performance for win.
Due to the increasing number of Corona cases the Election Commission of India has directed for virtual rallies, virtual meetings during the election process up to 22th January, 2022. After discussion with the representatives of the various states which are going for polls the Election Commission of India will further issue the new guidelines for the election process meetings etc.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi through letter to Election Commission of India has demanded for extension of polling date by 6 days in Punjab as the date announced by the Election Commission of India for polling in Punjab is 14th Feb 2022 the Chief Minister Punjab demanded to extend the polling date to 20th Feb 2022 keeping in mind the celebrations of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Jayanti.
The grass root level workers of Congress , SAD(B)-BSP , Aam Adami Party, B.J.P., Punjab Lok Congress , SAD Sanyukt workers are in enthusiastic and upbeat mood and are already working in the field are sharing and carrying out their message through mass contact programmes, nukkad meetings highlighting their respective future commitments, vision if voted to power with the masses .
There are many questions in the minds of the political analylists that can there be polarization of votes in these elections in Punjab. If there is polarization of votes to which party the votes will be transferred and which party will lose its vote bank share due to polarization. In the multi-corner contests polarization of votes play major role because the percentage of votes to a particular party /candidates declines and here once again the achievements and the personality, sincerity towards his commitments made by the masses in the previous elections by the candidate and his party.
In the multi-corner contests voters remain mum and the leaders of various political parties highlight their future manifestos. Here once again it the public who are the better judge to decide the fate of the candidates. “Yeh jo public hai sab janti hai”.
Now mud-slinging on each other cannot be ruled out in the elections by the political parties’ leaders. Congress will be trying to grab power for the second time consecutively, B.J.P. will try to increase its tally in Punjab along with its alliance partners, S.A.D. (B)-BSP will also try to increase its tally, AAP will also try to increase its tally then earlier tally its party achieved in 2017 assembly elections in Punjab.
At the end, one thing cannot be ruled out that Punjab can witness hung assembly and there can be post poll alliances to form the government after the assembly election results. Now senior leaders from all the political parties will visit Punjab to woo the voters and sing their songs of development as the development in the Smart Cities is mostly the ample of funds released by the Union Government under the Smart City Scheme.
