POLICE NOT SERIOUS about missing children

Ferozepur, February 8, 2013: Neither the state governments nor the local police are paying any attention towards the missing children with the result the incidents of missing children are on the rise.

For example take the case of Ferozepur itself, the statistics of missing children of the district are alarming.  As per the police reports, in 2009, 26 children were missing and the police could locate only 17 children and for the remaining nine, as of now there is no clue. At the same time, in 2011, 23 children go missing and only nine could be traced.  Similarly in 2012, 16 were missing and only two could be recovered.  In all, during the last four years, there is no fate of 50 children.

For quite some time, the parents of the children had been making piteous request but there was no response.  It is a big question mark on the working of the police department as the police is irresponsible for not taking any action and one can feel the plight of the families whose children goes missing. As per the sources, the police take interest only in those cases where there is a political pressure or of the prominent families.

However, during the tenure of existing SSP Varinder Pal Singh, only one child was missing and he was located during this month.  There is also a possibility of recovery of more children but not updated in the record but police is certainly serious about the missing of the children, he added.
