Police arrest youth, recover heroin worth Rs.7.50 lakh

Ludhiana, December 26, 2013: Sadar police have arrested a youth, recovering 10 grams of heroin worth Rs.7.50 lakh from his possession during a nakabandi held in the area on Wednesday.
Police have also recovered cash worth Rs.5,000 from the accused who has been identified as Avtar Singh alias Golu, a resident of Hawas village. He was riding a motorcycle when apprehended by the police. Interestingly, the accused belongs to landlord family. He was on his way to supply the narcotics to his customers when apprehended by the police on a tip off.
He has a criminal record in the past too. Some cases are already registered against him at different police stations, the police said.
The accused used to procure consignment of the narcotics from a village in Moga district.
