Poets play significant role in changing social scenario: Himachal Governor

Shimla, April 6, 2017: Governor Acharya Devvrat while speaking at closing ceremony of two days National level Hindi literature 'Kavi Sammelan ' said that Poets play a significant role in changing the social scenario of a country and poem can rejuvenate the life of any person. 'Kavi Sammelan ' was organised by Language, Art and Culture Department at Gaiety theatre here today.

He said that Poets were assets of the country, who propagate human values among the masses. He said that they highlight the social system through their poems and reinvigorate consciousness in the society through their thoughts and writings. He said that Poets also provide solutions to the social challenges through their poems and strike hard at social evils.

Acharya Devvrat, while congratulating Language, Art and Culture (LAC) Department for organizing national Hindi literature 'Kavi Sammelan' said that such functions should be organized more often so that common people could be benefitted and get the opportunity to listen to the famous poets, which help in bringing society together and create constructive approach.

Earlier, Director LAC Smt. Shashi Thakur welcomed the Governor and gave details of the progamme.

'Padamshri ' Poet Sh. Surendra Sharma and other renowned poets of the country regaled the audience through their poems.

Assistant Director LAC Smt. Karnal Negi presented vote of thanks.

Later, Governor also inaugurated painting exhibition of Sh. Aaditya Singh Thakur based on contemporary art of Himachal Pradesh.
