Chandigarh, August 8, 2025: Sukhmani Brar, an emerging voice in contemporary Indian poetry, launched her third poetry collection, Cloud of Sorrow: A Rain of Longing, at a special event held today at 4:00 p.m. in the ICSSR Seminar Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

A native of Bhagsar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and an alumna of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Waverley, Mussoorie, Sukhmani is currently in her final year of English (Hons.) at MCM DAV College, Chandigarh. This new book follows the success of her two earlier poetry collections and continues her signature exploration of love, loss, longing, and unspoken emotions—woven together with her evocative, rain-soaked imagery.

The launch was graced by distinguished guests, including Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University; A.S. Rai, Special DGP Punjab, Prof. Sushil Kumar, Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh; and Prof. Pushpinder Syal, noted scholar and academic.

Speaking at the event, Sukhmani described her latest work as “an offering for those who feel everything—silently,” capturing moments of deep emotional truth that resonate with readers across boundaries.
