PNG Facility Launched in MDU Girls' Hostels; Facility to Extend to Canteens, Boys' Hostels, and Residential Quarters
The girls' hostels at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) will now be powered by clean, green energy. Taking a significant step toward implementing a PNG (Piped Natural Gas) facility within the university's girls' hostels, the supply of PNG has officially commenced in the hostel messes. The 'Energizing MDU Girls' Hostels with PNG' initiative was officially announced on Friday during a high-level meeting held between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and MDU.
Rohtak, May 30, 2026: The girls' hostels at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) will now be powered by clean, green energy. Taking a significant step toward implementing a PNG (Piped Natural Gas) facility within the university's girls' hostels, the supply of PNG has officially commenced in the hostel messes. The 'Energizing MDU Girls' Hostels with PNG' initiative was officially announced on Friday during a high-level meeting held between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and MDU.
Welcoming this initiative, MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that the PNG system is the need of the hour and will promote safe, clean, and eco-friendly energy. He further informed that, in the near future, PNG supply—facilitated through collaboration with BPCL—will also be introduced in the university's canteens and boys' hostels, thereby steering the entire campus toward a 'Green Energy Model.'
Rahul Tandon, BPCL's Business Head (Gas), announced that a special drive would be undertaken to ensure the provision of PNG supply to the residential quarters, canteens, hostels, and laboratories across the MDU campus within the next 100 days. Conferring the status of a 'Good Print Partner' upon MDU, he remarked that the implementation of the PNG system within the university reinforces its vision for sustainability and a green future.
On this occasion, BPCL presented the 'Good Print Certificate' to MDU Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal. In turn, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia honored Rahul Tandon by presenting him with a memento. Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal expressed his gratitude to BPCL.
Prominent figures present on this occasion included MDU Finance Officer Mukesh Bhatt, Chief Warden (Boys) Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Chief Warden (Girls) Prof. Sapna Garg, Superintending Engineer J.S. Dahiya, Director of Public Relations Sunit Mukherjee, and Assistant Registrar (General Administration) Kanta Hooda. Representing the BPCL team were Head (Gas) North Dhakolia Lala Prabhu, Head (Marketing and Projects) Praveen Gangwar, and Territory Manager (Rohtak) Uttam Singh.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)—an esteemed 'Maharatna' company of India—will provide water coolers to the girls' and boys' hostels at MDU, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This announcement was made today by BPCL's Business Head (Gas), Rahul Tandon, during a high-level meeting held between the BPCL delegation and the MDU administration. The occasion was graced by the dignified presence of MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia and Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal.
On this occasion, Rahul Tandon also announced that sanitary napkin vending machines would be provided under the CSR initiative.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia expressed that the university administration deeply appreciates this initiative undertaken by BPCL with such noble intent. He added that efforts would continue to be made in the future to secure CSR initiatives from reputed companies to enhance the university's basic amenities, infrastructure, and student welfare services.
