PM Modi's US visit historic: BJP

New Delhi, June 24 (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit as historic. union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in a press conference on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to America has been very successful.

Puri said that both countries enhanced their strategic partnership through the announcement of ICATE, which is an initiative on important and emerging technology. This is a major milestone in Indo-US relations. Also, NASA and ISRO will develop a strategic framework for human space flight cooperation by 2023. It symbolises the strong partnership between the two largest democracies.

He said that when the Prime Minister first visited America, India was the 10th largest economy in the world, and today India has become the 5th largest economy in the world. His address to the joint session of the US Congress and the delegates asking for his autograph are proof of his being a world leader. Only a few people from around the world addressed a joint session of the US Congress. If we look at history, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill addressed a joint session of the US Congress.
