“Playing a character with such ambition and scale has been a very exciting experience for me” says Aabhaas Mehta as he steps into the role of Jarasandh in Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer

Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer takes audiences deeper into the world of the Mahabharat, exploring the power struggles, alliances and ambitions that shaped the kingdom long before the great war and influenced the Pandavas and Kauravas. Adding a new layer of intrigue to the narrative, actor Aabhaas Mehta steps into the role of Jarasandh, the powerful king of Magadh who dreams of expanding his control across Aryavrat.

Knowing that Bhishma Pitamah (Manish Wadhwa) stands in the way of any direct attack on Hastinapur, Jarasandh chooses a more careful approach and begins planning his moves from a distance. His entry brings a new threat to the kingdom as he looks for ways to weaken Hastinapur without facing its strongest warrior head-on. With his eyes set on Dhritarashtra (Sandeep Mohan), what cunning strategy will Jarasandh use to get closer to his goal?

Speaking about his role, Aabhaas Mehta shares, “Jarasandh is a very interesting character because his ambition goes much beyond simply winning a battle, he is a character driven by ambition, power and strategy. He is a ruler who is always thinking about the larger picture and how he can expand his power. He knows he cannot simply attack Hastinapur because Bhishma Pitamah is there, so he chooses to use his mind and plan carefully. He is patient, strategic and always looking for an opportunity. Playing a character with this kind of ambition and scale has been a very exciting experience for me.”
