The two-day Inter-College Aquatics and Water Polo Championships 2026-27 for men and women began at the swimming pool of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Monday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Poonia inaugurated the event and interacted with the participating players.

Rohtak, September 21, 2026: The two-day Inter-College Aquatics and Water Polo Championships 2026-27 for men and women began at the swimming pool of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Monday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Poonia inaugurated the event and interacted with the participating players.
Addressing the players, Prof. Poonia said Haryana’s sportspersons had brought laurels to the state through their hard work and talent at national and international levels. He urged players to set clear goals and strive for greater medal success for the country and state at global competitions, including the Olympics.
He stressed that while winning was important, sportsmanship, discipline, hard work and respect for opponents were the true hallmarks of a good sportsperson. He also underlined the importance of balancing academics with sports, saying sporting activities help develop leadership, confidence, teamwork and resilience.
Director Sports Kultaj Singh welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and briefed him about the championship. He said five men’s teams and six women’s teams from different colleges were participating.
Dean, Faculty of Education Prof. Jitendra Kumar, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Director Sports Dr Tejpal, Dr Vipin Saini, coaches, players and sports department officials were present.
