Ludhiana, May 28, 2014: H. S Phoolka, Senior Advocate, has said the statement of Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Cabinet Minister, that Modi Government would implement the Report of Nanavati Commission to punish the guilty, is highly surprising.
In a statement issued here today, he added, Nanavati Commission submitted its report in February 2005 and was tabled in the Parliament on August 8, 2005.
Adding , he said in this Report, Nanavati Commission had recommended registration of only 4 cases which are against Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler. All these 4 cases were registered and investigated by the CBI. Nanavati mentioned in his report that 241 cases are closed by Police and were never sent for trial to Courts. But, unfortunately it recommended reopening of only 4 cases. Other 237 cases, Nanavati never recommended to be reopened. Justice could only be done and the guilty could be punished if these 237 cases are reopened. For this purpose Kejriwal government had constituted SIT to reopen and reinvestigate these 237 cases which are closed by Police and never sent for trial. The SIT has not been made functional yet. “The Modi government should immediately make the SIT functional and get these 237 cases reinvestigated”, asserted Phoolka.
