Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility at the Trauma Centre on Thursday. Set up under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the centre is aimed at strengthening standardised emergency-care training for doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.
VC Dr Aggarwal said the selection of PGIMS Rohtak for Haryana’s first NELS Skill Centre is a matter of pride for the institution. He stressed that timely and appropriate intervention during the first few minutes of emergencies such as accidents, heart attacks and strokes can be critical to saving lives.
He said the centre would benefit healthcare professionals from Haryana as well as neighbouring states and help build a trained workforce in emergency medicine, ultimately improving the quality of emergency services across the region.
Registrar Dr Roop Singh said the centre would give a fresh impetus to the UHSR’s academic and capacity-building initiatives. Certified trainers will be prepared here to develop a wider NELS training network across the state.
PGIMS Director Dr S.K. Singhal said a dedicated building had been provided for the centre, equipped with advanced simulation facilities and trained faculty. Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal said the training would ultimately benefit critically ill patients as well as healthcare facilities at district hospitals and community health centres.
