PGIMS inspection: Director flags safety gaps, orders repairs

Rohtak, September 24, 2026: PGIMS, Rohtak Director Dr S.K. Singhal on Thursday ordered a series of immediate measures to improve patient facilities, hospital infrastructure and safety during an inspection of wards on the first and second floors.
Dr Singhal inspected Ward 8, ICU, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedic Surgery and PICU/NICU units, directing officials to repair dampness and damaged ceilings, replace broken window panes, fix Ward 8’s emergency exit and ensure all toilets are fully functional.
With attendants often forced to sit or sleep on floors, he ordered fans in the corridors to remain operational and benches to be installed for attendants.
Patient safety was given particular emphasis. Singhal directed officials to clearly mark fire exits, update fire extinguishers and remove obstructions from emergency exits, especially in the PICU/NICU. Rooms, duty rooms and toilets were also ordered to have clear signage.
He also directed the canteen near the wards to prominently display its rate list and use only commercial LPG cylinders.
“Patient safety, cleanliness and dignified care are our top priorities,” Dr Singhal said, warning that negligence, indiscipline and dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.
All heads of departments, nursing officials and the engineering wing have been asked to submit compliance reports within a week.
Executive Medical Superintendent Dr Sudhir Atri, Dr Sukhbir Singh, Dr Mahesh Mahla, Estate Officer Dushyant Sharma, Executive Nursing Superintendent Sudesh and PWD officials were present.
