People should not take covid-19 lightly: DC Ludhiana

Ludhiana: While taking a serious note of increasing number of COVID 19 cases in the district, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal have appealed to the residents to not take this disease lightly. He urged the residents to follow all directions issued by the Punjab government through Mission Fateh. He said that if the residents stay indoors, they would not only keep themselves safe, but even their family members would remain safe.
Besides, he also urged all government officials, members of NGOs and people from all sections of society to make maximum number of people aware about this pandemic.
While providing information, the Deputy Commissioner stated that in last 24 hours, 16 new positive cases have been reported in district Ludhiana. He informed that these patients include 4 from Chawni Mohalla, 6 from Islamganj, 3 from district Sangrur, while one each from district Fatehgarh Sahib, district Jalandhar and Gurugram (Haryana).
He informed that as per the “Mission Fateh” started by the Punjab government, the number of patients getting cured is increasing with each passing day. He said that till date, a total of 175 patients have been discharged from hospital after getting cured.
He further said that till date, a total of 13101 samples have been taken, out of which report of 12045 samples has been received, of 11655 samples is negative and report of 1056 samples is pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 281, while 110 patients are related to other districts/states. He said that unfortunately 10 people from Ludhiana and 7 from other districts have lost their lives. He said that 175 patients related to district Ludhiana have been discharged from hospital after treatment.
He informed that till date, 8785 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 2157. Today, 258 persons were sent for home quarantine.
He said that whenever District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out that about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 945 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.
