Ludhiana, October 4, 2026: Around 200–250 students of PCTE Group of Institutes participated in Nukkad Natak 2026, organised as part of Koshish under Festaweek, using street theatre to spread awareness about electoral processes, voting rights and responsible citizenship.
The Senior Wing performances were held at Rose Garden on Saturday, October 3, while the Junior Wing presented their plays at Rakh Bagh on Sunday, October 4. The performances brought together students who used satire, humour and dramatic presentations to engage audiences and communicate messages on issues of public importance.
The plays covered subjects such as Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), Candidate Form 26, election manifestos and the importance of informed voting. Through realistic situations and engaging dialogues, students highlighted the need for citizens to understand electoral procedures and exercise their democratic rights responsibly.
The performances were judged by Brij Mohan Bhardwaj of Ludhiana Kala Manch, an experienced theatre personality who has directed several plays, and Manish Bassi, a theatre artist. The judges appreciated the students' creativity, stage presence and ability to communicate socially relevant messages through theatre. Swapan Chanana, Director of Student Welfare, appreciated the students for choosing meaningful subjects and using theatre as a medium of awareness.
Dr. K. N. S. Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes, commended the participants and emphasised the importance of such activities in developing confidence, awareness and a sense of social responsibility among young people.
The event was part of PCTE's Festaweek celebrations, providing students with an opportunity to take their ideas beyond the classroom and engage directly with the community.
