Ludhiana, May 13, 2022: PCTE Faculty of Hotel Management organized “PCTE Youth Masterchef”, a two-week long event which had students from different streams competing with each other and with the blind folded culinary gurus. The competition was graced and judged by celebrity chefs and entrepreneurs from the region like Neelu Kaura, Chef & Director at Chefkala, restaurateur Jessie Sangha from Wicked Chicken and entrepreneur Mamta Malhotra from Samy Greens.

The event had students showcasing their culinary skills through a wide variety of dishes. In the finals, there were 16 students from different streams and 3 culinary gurus who cooked blindfolded. Each student prepared 3 unique dishes which showcased their creativity and imagination. The students explored the regional & global cuisines ranging from Lal Maas of Rajasthan, Rajbhog of Kolkata, Raj Kachori of Uttar Pradesh, Kolhapuri Rassa of Maharashtra to Shepherd’s Pie of England.

The highlights of the event were the dishes cooked by the Blindfolded Culinary Gurus such as Champaran Chicken Curry, Baked Lasagna, Baked Ritz Gratin, Microgreen Salad, Poached Chicken Roulade and French-fried Chicken Strips.
 
Yatin from BHMCT bagged the First Prize while Arshiya from B Sc Fashion Design bagged the second prize. Among the winners of Jury Prizes, Gurkirat & Roshan from BHMCT received the first & second prize respectively. Pardeep from BAJMC was declared as the most Innovative Chef and Abhishek from BHMCT was declared the second most innovative chef.
 
The Judges were elated to see the event and said that it was wonderfully organized. They emphasized how the college not only provides good education but also provides exposure to its students about real life challenges and events like these boost their confidence which will take them way long in their life.

Anirban Gupta, Dean, PCTE-IHM said that the students had worked really hard for the event and was amazed to see the zeal, enthusiasm and the creativity involved by the students.

Dr. KNS Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes congratulated the entire team of Hotel Management and Travel & Tourism and said that events like these give the students an opportunity to explore their creativity.
