Jalandhar, January 25, 2026: As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar organised an oath ceremony aimed at promoting electoral awareness and responsible citizenship among students. The objective of the programme was to encourage young voters to actively participate in the democratic process and to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution of India.
During the ceremony, students took a solemn pledge to exercise their democratic right to vote with integrity, responsibility, and awareness. The participants enthusiastically raised the slogan “My India, My Vote,” reflecting their commitment to strengthening democracy through informed electoral participation.
The SVEEP initiative was coordinated by the SVEEP Group of the college under the guidance of Nodal Officer Dr. Lovely Sharma, along with Ritu and Jaswinder Kaur.
The programme served as an important platform to sensitize students about the significance of voting as both a right and a duty.
Oath ceremonies hold profound significance as formal pledges of loyalty to constitutional values, laws, and public duty. Such ceremonies publicly affirm a commitment to integrity, impartiality, and service, binding participants morally while symbolizing trust between citizens and democratic institutions. The event reinforced the spirit of active citizenship and ethical participation in the electoral process.
