Jalandhar, September 10, 2025: The NCC Unit of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organised an awareness seminar on the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana under the dynamic leadership of Colonel R.S. Lehal, Commanding Officer of the 2 Punjab Girls Battalion. The session aimed to educate cadets and students about the objectives, benefits, and procedures of the scheme.
Capt. Priya Mahajan, Associate NCC Officer, along with Ms. Umar Fatima from the Department of Economics, addressed the participants and elaborated on the process of opening Jan Dhan accounts with zero balance. They also highlighted the key benefits such as the RuPay debit card facility, an overdraft provision of up to ₹10,000, and accident insurance coverage.
The speakers motivated cadets to spread awareness within their communities by assisting underprivileged individuals in opening bank accounts and availing benefits of various government schemes. They further emphasised the importance of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), explaining that most government benefits are routed through bank accounts, making financial inclusion a crucial step towards empowerment.
The seminar was also graced by the presence of Rachna and Jaswinder from the NCC Unit. The session proved highly impactful in encouraging cadets to actively contribute towards financial literacy and community welfare.
