PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar Embraces Eco-Friendly Celebrations with ‘Phoolon Ki Holi’

Jalandhar, March 4, 2026: PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated Holi with grandeur and environmental consciousness by organizing ‘Phoolon Ki Holi’, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainability while preserving cultural heritage. The event was organized by the Central Association in collaboration with the Youth Club. Replacing synthetic colors with fragrant flower petals, the celebration added elegance and ecological responsibility to the festive spirit.
The programme commenced with the traditional Holi Tilak ceremony, symbolizing goodwill and harmony. This was followed by a vibrant floral shower, where students joyfully tossed flower petals, celebrating the festival in a natural, skin-friendly, and eco-safe manner. Students also presented beautiful poems reflecting the spirit of Holi, harmony, and the vibrant colours of life, adding a literary charm to the celebration. Enthralling dance performances further energized the atmosphere, spreading happiness, unity, and festive enthusiasm across the campus.
Adding a creative dimension to the celebrations, the Incubation Center of the college introduced ‘Rangriti’, an innovative initiative wherein students prepared organic colours using natural and homemade ingredients such as beetroot, rose petals, marigold, and turmeric. The activity encouraged entrepreneurial thinking along with environmental awareness.
Highlighting the significance of Phoolon Ki Holi, Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar emphasized its cultural roots in Vrindavan and Barsana, where Holi is traditionally played with flowers in reverence to Lord Krishna and Radha. She stated that this eco-friendly alternative prevents water wastage and minimizes the harmful effects of chemical-based colours, making the celebration safe, meaningful, and responsible.
