The Library Advisory Committee of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated National Library Week with great enthusiasm, aiming to promote reading culture and highlight the importance of libraries in academic development.

Jalandhar, December 31, 2025: The Library Advisory Committee of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated National Library Week with great enthusiasm, aiming to promote reading culture and highlight the importance of libraries in academic development.

As part of the celebration, Sonia Kumari, the librarian of the institution, addressed the students and shared the historical background of libraries, explaining their journey from ancient manuscript collections to today’s modern digital libraries. She emphasized the essential role libraries play in supporting education, research, and lifelong learning.
She also conducted an enlightening session on Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s Five Laws of Library Science, which serve as the foundation of modern library services. She explained how these laws guide library management, user services, and the continuous growth of library resources.
 
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar  appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Library Advisory Committee and praised the initiatives taken to engage students in reading activities. They encouraged to continue organizing such meaningful programmes that contribute to the intellectual and cultural growth of the institution.
