PCM S.D. College for Women Commemorates ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’
The Department of History of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a series of meaningful activities to commemorate Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, honouring the memory of the millions who endured immense suffering, displacement, loss, and hardship during the Partition of India in 1947.
Jalandhar, August 17, 2026: The Department of History of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a series of meaningful activities to commemorate Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, honouring the memory of the millions who endured immense suffering, displacement, loss, and hardship during the Partition of India in 1947.
The observance sought to sensitise students to the human cost of Partition while fostering the values of peace, communal harmony, tolerance, coexistence, and national unity.
As part of the commemoration, the Department organized a Paper Writing Competition, encouraging students to engage critically with the causes and consequences of Partition, the experiences of migration and displacement, and the social and human dimensions of the tragedy. The activity provided students with a platform to reflect upon the significance of preserving historical memory and drawing meaningful lessons from the past.
