Pawan Dewan Raises Concern Over Poor Condition of Parks
Says: Municipal Corporation, which makes tall claims, should also focus on providing basic civic amenities
Ludhiana, January 7, 2026: Former President of the District Congress Committee (Urban), Ludhiana, and senior Congress leader Pawan Dewan has raised serious questions over the functioning of the Municipal Corporation regarding the deteriorating condition of city parks. He said that people who visit parks for morning and evening walks are facing severe inconvenience due to filth and poor maintenance.
Dewan stated that the condition of parks located in Sarabh Nagar’s Leisure Valley, Shastri Nagar, and several other areas is extremely deplorable. He specifically mentioned Leisure Valley adjoining the Municipal Corporation Zone D office, where heaps of garbage can be seen lying around. He remarked that if the Municipal Corporation is unable to maintain a park located right next to its own office, then the condition of parks in the rest of the city can well be imagined.
He further referred to parks in Shastri Nagar and nearby localities, saying that residents visit these parks daily to maintain their health, but instead are forced to confront piles of garbage and unhygienic surroundings.
Pawan Dewan said that the Municipal Corporation, which often makes big claims, must also pay attention to providing basic civic amenities to the public. He appealed to the Municipal Corporation officials to ensure proper cleanliness and maintenance of parks so that citizens can be provided with a clean and healthy environment.
