PAUTA president, Dr H S Kingra meets Sukhsarkaria, Ashu and Dr Raj Kumar
Put before them the issue of delinking of the pay scales of the universities and colleges from the UGC pay scales

Ludhiana: PAUTA president, Dr H S Kingra met Sukhbinder Singh Sukhsarkaria, Cabinet Minister Punjab, Dr Raj Kumar, MLA and Chairman Congress SC Wing and Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Cabinet Minister Punjab separately to put before them the issue of delinking of the pay scales of the universities and colleges from the UGC pay scales. He apprised them about consequences of such move and the likely falling back of higher education system in the state. The universities will be adverse affected by the loss of funds under the central grants for education due to loss of parity with the central government educational institutes.
The PFUCTO (Punjab Federation of University and College Teacher Organizations) has also taken up this issue with CM Punjab. The various teacher unions have written to the CM Punjab for withdrawal of this order of the Finance Department Punjab.
A meeting has been scheduled to held with Sh Suresh Kumar, Principal Chief Secretary to CM Punjab on 21.02.2021 where the executives of PFUCTO will represent the teachers.
Dr Kingra appealed to theCM Punjab to urgently address this issue so that the higher education system does not suffer. /(February 21, 2021)
