PAU Retirees on path of agitation

Ludhiana, August 10, 2023: The General Body meeting of PAU Retirees Welfare Association was held under the chairmanship of Zila Ram Bansal in which the senior/junior cases due to which the payment of Rs.25-30 lakhs to the retired employees like gratuity, pension commutation etc., are on hold.  LTA due on January 23 and July 23, payment of 6% DA arrears for which the office action regarding payment has been completed by the bank and office etc. were discussed.  The association expressed strong anger about these demands by showing a banner.

The President also said that if the authorities do not  look into the matter, then this protest will be intensified.  There is a huge delay in payment of medical bills, while the previous vice chancellor had ordered to make payment within 21 days.  ACLA and its local audit junior officers are assigned duties of various external offices i.e. Electricity Board or Municipal Corporation etc., so they attend only 2 days in PAU  instead of 5 days, resulting in delay in payments to pensioners.  So Full Time Audit Staff is required.  Many retirees/pensioners live in remote places outside Punjab as well.  Some live in the south.  They cannot come personally to ask for any clarification from SBI, PAU, Ludhiana from where they draw their pension and other dues.

Arrangements should be made to appoint an officer who will personally respond through call back after receiving the information from the bank.

Jasbir Singh Secretary conducted the meeting.  The following prominent people were present in the meeting BS Lamba, Charanjit Singh Grewal, Labh Singh, Inderjit Singh, Kanwaljit Singh, Nitya Nand, Kamlesh Chandra, Kailash Chandra, Sham Murthy, Narinder Pal Singh and Ashok Mahindru.

Finally, Kailash Chandra thanked the retirees for their active participation.
