PAU PROFESSOR ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Ludhiana, January 3, 2018: Dr V.P.Sethi, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), attended the 2ndInternational Conference on “Materials, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering (MMME)-2017” as Keynote Speaker, held at Phuket, Thailand, on December 29 and 30, 2017. Dr Sethi was invited for this conference, where he delivered his keynote address on the topic “Technological perspectives of improved solar and drying devices with societal impact at domestic and commercial scale” with special emphasis on green energy use and environmental impact analysis for carbon dioxide mitigation potential and carbon credit earning by using solar technologies as a replacement of fossil/biomass based fuel technologies. As per the certificate received from the organizers of the conference, his speech was highly appreciated by the attendees for its superior quality and great pragmatic value.

Dr Sethi has been working in the area of design and development of improved solar thermal and greenhouse technologies for the last two decades. He has developed many technologies such as inclined solar cooker, community solar cooker, greenhouse/solar crop dryers, the results of which have been published in international journals of high impact factor. He has also published more than 60 research and review articles in national and international journals of repute. Based on his research contributions, he was invited as ‘Visiting Research Faculty’ and ‘Guest Faculty’ by North Dakota State University, USA and University of Guelph, Canada, respectively, for collaborative research. He is also the recipient of many national and international awards and honours for his outstanding research work.

Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, congratulated Dr Sethi for this achievement. Dr Navtej Bains, Director of Research, and Dr Jaskarn Singh Mahal, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU, also appreciated the efforts made by Dr Sethi.
