Ludhiana, July 30, 2012: A two-day training course on “Dietary management of chronic and communicable diseases” will be organised for the farm women on August 8 and 9 at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).
The course will be supervised and coordinated by the PAU Directorate of Extension Education.
During the course, the PAU home scientists will dwell upon various diseases including diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, typhoid, hepatitis, diarrhea and fevers, informed Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education. The trainees will be educated about causes, symptoms and diagnosis of chronic diseases and dietary management of hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases.
Dr Gill said that the experts would also shed light on communicable diseases among children with focus on their preventive and remedial measures, approaches to prevent osteoporosis among elders and care and management of children during rainy season.
Adding, Dr. Gill said the home science experts would give live demonstrations on the preparation of low fat and calcium rich recipes.
He told that the registration for the course would take place on August 8 at PAU Kairon Kisan Ghar at 9 a.m.
