PAU establishes technology resource centre in Village Sudhar

Under All India Coordinated Research Project- Women in Agriculture, the Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has established a Technology Resource Centre in the village Sudhar, district Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, June 30, 2023: Under All India Coordinated Research Project- Women in Agriculture, the Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has established a Technology Resource Centre in the village Sudhar, district Ludhiana. The main objective of the Technology Resource Centre is to provide all the drudgery reducing technologies and tools, developed and tested under All Indian Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) – Women in Agriculture (WIA), like Multipurpose Revolving Phiri, Vegetable Ring Cutter, Amal de-seeding Machine, Sickles, Maize Sheller, Vegetable Harvesting Bag, etc. About 55 participants attended the event.

Dr Shivani Rana, Scientist, AICRP-WIA, Department of RMCS, urged the farmwomen and their families to take advantage of the tested technologies /tools in their farms and allied activities to reduce drudgery. At present, seven technologies/tools have been kept in the Technology Resource Centre, she added.

Apart from this, Dr Shivani Rana and Dr Manpreet Kaur, a young professional, gave demonstration on the making of millet mixture and watermelon punch, and sensitized women regarding homemade recipes made using superfood millets.
The Sarpanch of the village Harminder Singh, Members of Panchayat Gamdoor Singh and Gurcharan Singh along with the main woman leader of the village Mrs Tajinder Kaur were also present on the occasion.

Later, Dr Rana thanked all the participants and the Sarpanch of the village for their full support and cooperation in establishing this centre.
