PAU celebrates National Nutritional Month at Aanganwadi Centre
Under the aegis of All India Coordinated Research Project on Women in Agriculture (AICRP-WIA), Dr Prerna Kapila, Scientist, Department of Apparel and Textile Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated National Nutrition Month at Aanganwadi centre of Abdullapur Basti, Jammu colony, Ludhiana. As many as 45 aanganwadi workers, helpers and farm women participated in the training.
Ludhiana, September 11, 2024’: Under the aegis of All India Coordinated Research Project on Women in Agriculture (AICRP-WIA), Dr Prerna Kapila, Scientist, Department of Apparel and Textile Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated National Nutrition Month at Aanganwadi centre of Abdullapur Basti, Jammu colony, Ludhiana. As many as 45 aanganwadi workers, helpers and farm women participated in the training.
The Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO) of Ludhiana, Davinder Kaur along with Dr Prerna Kapila from PAU inaugurated the function.
Dr Prerna delivered an important lecture on ‘Benefits of Healthy Lifestyle and Eating.’ She stressed upon the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle via prevention and cure of various non-communicable lifestyle diseases, and also apprised the aanganwadi workers and helpers of various upcoming skill developmental trainings in PAU.
Dr Aditi Sewak, a young professional in College of Community Science, PAU, demonstrated easy yet nutritious recipes for preparation at household level.
Dr Prerna also distributed winter vegetable seed kits for the establishment of ‘kitchen garden’ in the aanganwadi centre. The participants keenly attended the lectures and were motivated for future cooperation amongst women for excellence in entrepreneurship skills.
The CDPO thanked Dr Prerna for her insightful guidance and sharing of knowledge.
