PAU and Guru Kashi University experts endeavour to save historical ‘Jandiyan’

Talwandi Sabo, October 31, 2013: In order to examine the deteriorating condition of historical ‘Jandiyan’ (tree) at Takhat Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, a term of experts from Guru Kashi University and Punjab Agriculture University visited the Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib where they were offered ‘Siropa’ by the Managing Committee.

The team consisted of Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor, Satish Goswami, Registrar and Dr. B.S. Chahal, Senior Horticulturist from GKU and Dr. Gurjit Singh and Dr. Karamdeep Singh from PAU. On examining the plants, the team came to the conclusion that the water and grains being offered by the devotees was causing severe damage to them. The termite is aggravating the situation. Some insects are damaging the leaves. Keeping this is view, the team got the grains removed and treated the plants with insecticides and leaves were sprayed with the desired treatment. The team of experts appeals to the devotees not to offer water and grains to these ‘Jandiyan’ so as to ensure their long life.  www.cityairnews.com
