Patil asks Chandigarh University to adopt latest technology

Mohali/Chandigarh, February 21, 2014: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil, emphasised to give more focus towards generating knowledge instead of borrowing knowledge from books. He said that initially borrow knowledge from books is required but our aim should be to generate knowledge which is new. He said that this University is marching in this direction.
Addressing the mammoth gathering at Chandigarh University after inaugurating the Annual State Level Tech Fest at Gharuan in District Mohali, Patil described technology as an important tool for economic growth. He said that a modern and relevant technological infrastructure enable the country to generate the utilized knowledge and innovations. He said that the Chandigarh University has persuaded the students to manufacture new kind of vehicles. He said that he was of the opinion that within next 50 years of time, we would not use the present kind of vehicles run by petrol and diesel. He said future vehicles would be run by solar energy. Therefore, Universities should put more emphasis on introducing concept of modern and latest technology to introduce the concept of solar energy in their campuses. He said that this kind of research and development was required and education on these lines should be imparted to inculcate the spirit of determination, desire and capacity in the students.
Patil exhorted the students, faculty members and professors of the Chandigarh University to embark on a goal-oriented research and teaching which would enable youth to take up the challenges of the State leading to national development.
Patil asked the students to face the challenges of the outside world with a positive attitude. He exhorted the students that in this competitive age, focus should be on enhancing capabilities and confidence to achieve excellence through commitment, vision, determination and hardwork.
Patil shown keen interest in exhibition displayed in the Campus. He also gave away prizes to the students and professors who excelled in their respective fields.
