Chandigarh, October 25, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 6239159 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 6239159 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 5789933 tonnes of paddy (92.8%) till date whereas private traders procured 449226 tonnes (7.2%) of paddy. Till October 24, PUNGRAIN had procured 1702438 tonnes (29.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 1374693 tonnes (23.7%). PUNSUP procured 1307033 tonnes (22.6%), PSWC procured 550891 tonnes (9.5%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 583855 tonnes (10.1%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 271023 tonnes (4.7%).
The spokesperson added that District Patiala with 664571 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ferozepur with 664093 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Moga 536627 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position. www.cityairnews.com
