Pass resolution on MSP legal guarantee in Vidhan Sabha, Tewari to Punjab govt

Chandigarh, February 17, 2024: Senior Congress leader and Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari today called upon the Punjab government to convene a special session of the Vidhan Sabha and pass a resolution for legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price on various crops.

In a statement issued here today, Tewari said, the Punjab government should pass a resolution in the Vidhan Sabha and send it to the central government. He observed that this is the minimum the state government can do to express its solidarity with the farmers who are camping on Shambu and Khanauri borders.

While supporting the genuine demand of the farmers for legal guarantee on MSP, Tewari pointed out, the Congress party has already announced that it will provide legal guarantee for the MSP after it forms the government at the centre.

The Anandpur Sahib MP maintained that a resolution from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in support of the legal guarantee for MSP can set a precedent for other state governments, which are also supportive of the farmers and can eventually build up pressure on the central government.
