Jalandhar/Kapurthala, January 23, 2024: Youth Festival is very important for talent hunt, talent polish & overall development of the young minds. Participation of students is as important as academic performance. I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (I.K.G.PTU) is committed to the overall development of its students. Organizing the Youth Festival is an important part of that commitment. These views are of Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, IKG PTU. He was addressing the inaugural session of the IKG PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival as the chief guest at the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium located on the main campus of the university on Tuesday. Recalling his university days, he said that he considered youth festivals as opportunities and never missed participation. He shared that now holistic education is being imparted, which teaches lifestyle in a spirit of friendship, whereas in those times, university youth festivals were a medium of friendship & holistic atmosphere. 

The lighting the lamp was performed first from the stage. Chief guest Vice Chancellor Dr. Susheel Mittal met University Registrar Dr. S.K Misra and all the deans and lit the lamp. The Shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe Hai….” was sung by the students to receive the blessings of the almighty. After this, the welcome speech was read by Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Gaurav Bhargava. Registrar Dr. SK Mishra praised the intellectual and academic development of the young generation. He spoke on the efforts being made towards it. 

In the start of cultural ceremony, first performance was a dance on the song "Mahabharata by the University students Neha, Samiksha & her team. Finally, the vote of thanks was read by Dean Academic Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla. On this occasion, Dean R&D Dr. Hitesh Sharma, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia, Youth Festival Observer Dr. M S Toor and others were present.

In the first day's program, competitions were organized in Punjabi Folk Dance Bhangra, Mimicry, Mime, Classical Dance, Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrumental Solo, Group Shabad/Bhajan, Debate, Creative Writing, Quiz, On Spot Painting, Photography, Poster Making and Collage Making.
