Participants across North India grabbed gold, silver, and bronze medals on 2nd day of the ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament 

The excitement of participants of the ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament (North Zone) 2023 was high even at the chilling temperature of Ludhiana. More than 800 participants from 24 institutes representing seven north Indian states actively participated in various events organized by ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana at the Sports Complex, PAU Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, January 18, 2024: The excitement of participants of the ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament (North Zone) 2023 was high even at the chilling temperature of Ludhiana. More than 800 participants from 24 institutes representing seven north Indian states actively participated in various events organized by ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana at the Sports Complex, PAU Ludhiana.

Finally, the Gold medal was grabbed by CIFE, Mumbai both in Javelin Throw (Women) and Shotput (Women) (Jeena K); NBFGR, Lucknow in Javelin Throw (Men) (Chandra Bhushan Kumar); CSSRI, Karnal in Shotput (Men) (Abhishek Rana); CIPHET, Ludhiana in 200m race (Women) (Ritu Kukde); IIWBR, Karnal both in 200m race (Man) and 400m race (Man) (Naresh); CPRI, Shimla in 800m race (Men) (Virendra Kumar) and VPKAS, Almora in 1500m race (Men) (Dr. R.P. Meena).
Silver grabbed by CPRI, Shimla in Javelin Throw (Women), Shotput (Women), and Shotput (Men); VPKAS, Almora in 400m and 800 race (men); CIFE, Mumbai in 200m race (women); IISWC, Dehradun in 200m race (men); IIFSR, Meerut in Javelin Throw (men).

Bronze was grabbed by CIFE, Mumbai in Shotput (Women), 200 m race (women), 200 m race (men); CPRI, Shimla in Javelin Throw (men) and 1500 m race (men); DMR, Solan in Javelin Throw (Women); CITH, Srinagar in Shotput (Men); IIFSR, Meerut in 400 m race (men), IISWC in 800 m race (men).

Many matches were played for cricket, football, chess, carrom board, badminton, volleyball, and basketball. This tournament promotes healthy competition, unity, and sportsmanship among employees of ICAR institutes, exemplifying the spirit of diversity within the organization.
