Pargat Targets AAP Over AI Videos Against Jathedars, Demands Immediate Police Action: Pargat

Chandigarh, June 26, 2026: Senior Congress leader and MLA Pargat Singh has strongly condemned the alleged circulation of objectionable and derogatory AI-generated videos of respected Jathedar Sahiban on social media pages linked to the Aam Aadmi Party’s IT cell. He said that such acts not only hurt religious sentiments but also appear to be an attempt to disturb the atmosphere of Punjab and create conflict within society. He warned that using AI for political gains in religious matters is an extremely dangerous trend and its misuse is unacceptable.
Pargat demanded that Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav immediately identify all those involved in creating, circulating, and making these videos viral, conduct an impartial investigation, and take strict legal action against them. He said that if timely action is not taken in such matters, it could adversely affect both law and order and social harmony.
Pargat said that for some time, AI-generated videos have allegedly been circulated on social media in a planned manner with the aim of hurting the dignity of Sikh religious institutions and Jathedar Sahiban. He described the matter as extremely serious and said that it cannot be ignored under any circumstances.
Pargat said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that no political party or its IT cell is given a free hand to misuse religious sentiments. He said that Punjab has always been a land of brotherhood, mutual respect, and communal harmony, and maintaining the dignity of religious institutions is the collective responsibility of everyone.
