Pargat Singh Sachin Pilot begin new journey with prayers for Punjab’s well-being
Sachin Pilot and newly appointed Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib, Durgiana Temple, St. Paul’s Church and Ram Tirath; pray for Punjab’s peace, prosperity and progress
Amritsar, October 8, 2026: Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot and newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President and MLA Pargat Singh today visited the historic and holy city of Sri Amritsar Sahib. During their visit, they paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and other religious places and prayed for peace, prosperity, progress and overall development of Punjab, as well as the welfare of humanity.
A special highlight of the visit was that Sachin Pilot personally drove the car, accompanying Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh from the airport and throughout the visit to the various religious places. The enthusiasm among Congress leaders and workers was visible all along the route. Pargat Singh, after being appointed as Punjab Congress President, travelled directly from Delhi to Amritsar.
At the beginning of the visit, Sachin Pilot and Pargat Singh paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sri Darbar Sahib) and offered prayers for peace, prosperity and comprehensive development of Punjab and the country. Praying for the welfare of all, they said that the sacred precincts of Sri Darbar Sahib convey the universal message of service, sacrifice, equality, humanity and brotherhood. They prayed for the continued well-being, prosperity and brighter future of the people of Punjab.
They subsequently visited Durgiana Temple and offered prayers for peace and prosperity in the state.
They said Punjab’s unique identity lies in its rich religious and cultural heritage and its tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood. The land of Punjab has always taught respect for different faiths, communities and viewpoints, while placing humanity above all else.
Thereafter, they visited St. Paul’s Church in Amritsar and offered prayers for peace, love, harmony and brotherhood to grow stronger across Punjab.
At the end of the visit, they paid obeisance at Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath (Ram Tirath), paying tribute to the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji and emphasising the values of equality, dignity and humanity in society. They also extended greetings and best wishes to the community ahead of Bhagwan Valmiki Prakatotsav, which will be celebrated on October 26.
During the visit, they also enjoyed tea at Amritsar’s famous Giani Tea Stall. They remarked that a visit to Amritsar is never complete without having a cup of tea here.
Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Pilot said that the land of Punjab has always conveyed the message of humanity, service, sacrifice, brotherhood and social harmony. He said that visiting the various religious places in Sri Amritsar Sahib was not merely an expression of religious faith, but also an opportunity to reconnect with Punjab’s glorious heritage, which inspires people to move forward with mutual love and harmony.
He said Punjab’s rich religious and cultural heritage is a source of inspiration for the entire country. He called upon people to further strengthen mutual respect, unity and brotherhood among all religions and communities.
Pargat Singh said that Punjab is the land of great Gurus, saints, spiritual leaders and social reformers. Its rich heritage inspires people towards mutual love, brotherhood, coexistence and service to humanity.
He said that strengthening social unity and mutual trust is essential to take Punjab forward on the path of development. He emphasised that the prosperity of farmers, workers, traders, youth, women and every section of society is the true measure of Punjab’s progress.
Pargat Singh said that freeing Punjab from drugs, unemployment, corruption and other social challenges and transforming it into a strong, prosperous and progressive state is a shared responsibility of all.
