Panjab University’s Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal Honoured in London Book of World Records for Historic Culinary Achievement

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has added another achievement to its academic and professional excellence as Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal, Director, University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), participated in a world record-setting culinary event recognised by the London Book of World Records.

Chandigarh, September 30, 2026: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has added another achievement to its academic and professional excellence as Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal, Director, University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), participated in a world record-setting culinary event recognised by the London Book of World Records.
Dr. Aggarwal was among 100 distinguished chefs from across India who collectively participated in “The World’s Largest Raita Mahotsav: 500 Varieties Prepared by 100 Chefs”, showcasing the creativity, diversity and richness of Indian culinary traditions.
The event marked a remarkable culinary milestone with 500 distinct varieties of raita prepared by 100 chefs in just 1 minute and 45 seconds. The achievement was officially recognised and certified by the London Book of World Records, under Certification No. LBOWRE6050564E.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal said that participation in such an internationally recognised record attempt reflects the spirit of culinary excellence, innovation and preservation of Indian culinary traditions. He emphasised that such initiatives also provide opportunities for students and professionals in hospitality and tourism to engage with new ideas and showcase the immense potential of Indian cuisine on national and international platforms.
The record-setting event was organised by Kavita Master Cookery Classes (KMCC) and Flavours of Home Chefs on September 21, 2026, at Hotel Omega, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The event brought together culinary professionals and enthusiasts from different parts of India, including Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Assam, Gujarat and Uttarakhand, providing a unique platform to celebrate India's diverse culinary heritage.
The achievement is a proud moment for Panjab University and UIHTM, further highlighting the Institute’s contribution towards excellence and innovation in the field of hospitality, culinary arts and tourism.
